I’m thinking about doing it…I’m just worried that I’ll shoot myself in the foot, as I do whenever I set a goal for myself (such as when I set goals for diet, exercise, reading old shit before buying new shit, keeping my house clean, etc. etc., etc.).

Glad I have some time to decide…52 is a lot more tempting than 100!

John Carpenter’s Cigarette Burns inspired me to make an experimental short film. I studied different techniques of influencing the human mind and attempted to implement them into a story. Art can be presented in the form of a product, or it can be used as a tool to promote different products, people, and ideas. Art can be seen as a tool for manipulation of the mind, the same way a scalpel is a tool for manipulation of the flesh.

I saw John Haskell do a reading earlier this year, and I think this book like a lot of monologueist/humorist work comes off better when it’s performed—like that bit at the end we he gets all hysterical-realist with the raisin, it totally killed. Imagine Spalding Gray–god rest his soul–slightly sedated.

But I too am curious about the rest of his trilogy.

Congrats, Prisco. I understand your feelings of an empty victory, but you’ve acheived something mighty.

I need to read more. The past little while I’ve used studying science as an excuse not to. I suck. Fuck it, starting July 1st, I’m going to try to read a book a week. It’s no cannonball read, but look at it this way – you and Pink have inspired me to rediscover my love of reading. So maybe your victory isn’t quite as empty as you thought.

I’m a pusher. A pimp of Butcher, as it were. Not that he really needs much pimping.

I love how he just keeps stepping up the game, and all that. And manages to remain true to the characters he’s developed over the course of the series. And good god, the shit Harry goes through just breaks my heart every single time.

So… have you heard when the next one is out?
